Building the McConnellsville Hatchery
On November 29, 2010 a work crew from Harden Furniture began building a roof over part of the sluiceway at the dam in McConnellsville. The head carpenter was Lenny with Mike and Mark helping. Winter intervened before the structure could be completed. The only thing needed to be done was applying the waterproof roofing material. It will be installed in the Spring as conditions will allow.
Orginally, a gable roof was envisioned but Albert Ash from DEC suggested that a flat roof would be better since it would not impede water flowing over the structure in case of a severe flooding conditions. The club was concerned about safety so 3/4 inch plexiglass was used for the sky lights. Jim Lawler spearheaded the engineering for the structure and was able to get permits and/or approval from all interested parties.
